Costa Week with Costa Crociere Expands INJR Crew Members’ Preparation for Professional Life Onboard

01/09/2026

INJR Crew Members took part in another stage of their professional preparation during Costa Week, an initiative held with Costa Crociere and focused on expanding their knowledge of working onboard cruise ships. Throughout the program, the young participants were introduced to different aspects of professional life at sea, from the roles performed by onboard teams to the challenges involved in daily operations.

The activity is part of the training process of the Tripulantes INJR project, which prepares former students of Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. for professional opportunities in the international cruise industry. During Costa Week, participants expanded their understanding of the onboard work environment and learned more about responsibilities and procedures involved in a crew member’s routine.

The program covered different areas of activity on cruise ships, their respective roles, and the hierarchical structure that organizes the work of onboard teams. The sessions also allowed participants to gain a clearer understanding of the challenges involved in adapting to professional life at sea and the requirements of a career in the cruise industry.

One of the sessions focused on Food & Beverage, providing an overview of restaurant operations onboard. Participants learned about the roles within the department, team organization, and the dynamics involved in passenger service, gaining further exposure to one of the professional areas available on cruise ships.

In addition to theoretical content, the young participants took part in practical activities related to restaurant service. These included handling and carrying trays, giving them an opportunity to experience some of the tasks and requirements associated with the Restaurant Server position.

The program also featured Victor Lombardi, Dining Room Manager at Costa Crociere, who presented information about professional activities within the Food & Beverage area. The session provided participants with direct contact with aspects of the work routine and the responsibilities involved in onboard restaurant operations.

Costa Week therefore represents another stage in the preparation of INJR Crew Members before they begin their professional experiences onboard. Contact with information about roles, procedures, team organization, and daily operations helps broaden the participants’ understanding of the work environment they may encounter during their contracts.

The training process combines different areas of knowledge and practical experiences, providing participants with references to better understand the characteristics of the industry and the challenges associated with working onboard. Held with Costa Crociere, Costa Week is part of this preparation by bringing young participants closer to the operational reality and professional opportunities available in the cruise industry.
