INJR Crew Members completed another stage of their professional preparation for working aboard cruise ships through STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) training at Shelter Cursos. The program covers maritime safety knowledge and procedures and forms part of the young participants’ preparation for the responsibilities and challenges of working on board.
Throughout the training, participants were introduced to content related to emergency prevention and response, as well as safety procedures required for professionals working in the maritime sector. The activities combined theoretical and practical components, allowing INJR Crew Members to learn about different situations that may occur during vessel operations.

One of the stages was Fire Fighting training, carried out at Shelter Cursos. The activity was divided into theoretical content and practical exercises, covering fire principles, types of fire, prevention methods, and appropriate procedures for responding to emergency situations.
The training also included a Survival at Sea stage, carried out in a swimming pool, where participants learned procedures related to safety and survival in water-based emergency situations. The activity provided an opportunity to apply the knowledge covered throughout the training in a practical setting.
In addition to the practical activities, INJR Crew Members also completed the theoretical assessment required as part of the training. This stage helps assess participants’ understanding of the content presented during the program and forms part of the preparation process required for professional work on board.

STCW training is part of a broader preparation journey that also includes language skills, technical training, and behavioral development. Throughout this process, the young participants prepare for different aspects of professional life aboard cruise ships, from safety procedures to the skills required to perform their assigned duties.
The training is carried out with the support of professionals and institutions involved in the preparation of the INJR Crew Members, including Shelter Cursos, Costa Crociere Careers, Costa Cruzeiros Brasil, and Agência ISMBR. Each stage contributes to expanding participants’ knowledge and preparing them for the different requirements of the maritime professional environment.
With the completion of their STCW training, INJR Crew Members move forward to another stage of their preparation for professional opportunities aboard cruise ships, consolidating technical knowledge and safety procedures that are part of their professional training for work at sea.
