Throughout a year of preparation, participants in the Tripulantes INJR program went through different stages of training focused on developing knowledge and skills for the international job market. Among these stages, recruitment interviews represented an important opportunity to assess the young participants’ preparation for professional opportunities aboard cruise ships.
The interview stage was conducted by project partners Costa Crociere, Costa Cruzeiros Brasil and ISM Brasil, which led the participants’ assessment processes. The interviews allowed the young participants to demonstrate the knowledge and skills developed throughout their months of preparation and to advance through one of the key stages of the recruitment process.
The interviews were conducted entirely in English, allowing the participants’ communication skills and their ability to use the language in a professional environment to be assessed. In addition to language proficiency, the process considered technical knowledge related to the routines and responsibilities performed aboard cruise ships.
The interviews also assessed each participant’s professional profile, skills and competencies. The evaluation helped identify the areas and positions that were most compatible with the participants’ individual characteristics and knowledge, taking into account the demands of working in the cruise industry.
The recruitment interviews marked the completion of another stage in a process involving months of dedication, study and professional development. For the participants, the experience provided an opportunity to put the knowledge acquired during their training into practice and experience a process similar to the recruitment procedures found in the international job market.
The recruitment stage reinforces the purpose of the Tripulantes INJR program to prepare young people for new professional opportunities and expand their access to the international job market. The process combines training, skills development and direct contact with companies in the cruise industry, supporting participants as they move forward in their professional journeys with new knowledge and perspectives.
