Nesta terça-feira (02), o Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. recebeu a visita do Campeão Olímpico de Tóquio em 2021, o surfista brasileiro, Ítalo Ferreira. O primeiro surfista da história a ganhar uma medalha da modalidade nos jogos, conheceu o trabalho educacional e esportivo exercido pelo projeto social na Praia Grande e foi recebido com carinho e animação pelos alunos.

Durante a manhã, Ítalo passeou pelas quadras poliesportivas e pelo campo, onde aproveitou para jogar vôlei e futebol com as crianças. No prédio educacional, o destaque ficou para a aula de artes, onde os alunos prepararam uma surpresa e o presentearam com desenhos do atleta feitos em sala de aula. 

Após percorrer os 8.400m² de área construída do INJR, Ítalo Ferreira contou ter ficado impressionado com o projeto. “Eu acredito que [o Instituto] está contribuindo muito para as pessoas que estão aqui e fazem parte desse projeto, para todas as crianças que estão chegando, para todos os adultos que já saíram. Esse é o resultado do projeto, é o resultado de muita dedicação, muito esforço. Todos os profissionais que estão aqui se doam 100% para esse projeto e, principalmente, o Neymar. Eu queria parabenizá-lo pelo projeto, por estar fazendo isso em retorno para a comunidade de onde ele veio, onde ele cresceu. Desejo muita sorte para todos, e que aproveitem cada momento nesse lugar especial”, comenta o surfista. 

Para o medalhista olímpico, o incentivo ao esporte é parte importante do papel exercido pelo Instituto na vida dos jovens. “O esporte transformou a minha vida. Deus me deu esse talento e a gente sabe que nem todo mundo quer ser um esportista, mas quer ter uma oportunidade na vida. Esses projetos dão essa oportunidade, dão essa luz para as crianças, para os jovens, mostram um caminho melhor a ser seguido”. 

Ao se familiarizar com a atuação do INJR, Ítalo busca, também, inspiração para o projeto  social que está desenvolvendo e que levará seu nome. O Instituto Italo Ferreira está sendo elaborado em Baía Formosa, Rio Grande do Norte, cidade natal do atleta. Uma entidade sem fins lucrativos que tem como pilares o esporte, a formação e a sustentabilidade.

Para o atleta, o Instituto é um sonho se tornando realidade. “O meu Instituto vai inaugurar esse ano em Baía Formosa, lugar onde eu nasci e tenho um carinho enorme. Era meu sonho contribuir e dar oportunidade também para as pessoas que vivem nesse lugar e acredito que vai ser incrível. Espero que eu consiga dar grandes oportunidades e que eu possa fazer parte da vida das crianças e das pessoas que vão participar desse projeto”, conta. No mês de agosto, o Instituto Ítalo Ferreira dará início às matrículas para o início das atividades em sequência. 

Ítalo relaciona a oportunidade de poder construir um projeto como seu Instituto com a sua vitória da primeira medalha de ouro olímpica de surfe na história. “Depois da minha vitória nas olimpíadas tudo mudou. Eu gosto de falar muito sobre o meu instituto e trazer essa conquista para dentro desse meu projeto, porque realmente está ajudando. E é através dessa vitória que eu consegui bons parceiros, pessoas que realmente estão ali para somar e que podem ajudar junto comigo esse projeto e mudar a vida das pessoas que vão participar. Vai ser incrível. Eu falo que eu vou fazer de tudo enquanto eu estiver vivo para dar oportunidade e ajudar ao próximo”, conta o atleta. 

Neymar Jr. e Ítalo Ferreira são exemplos do importante papel que os atletas podem exercer na sociedade através do esporte e da educação, transformando a vida de crianças, adolescentes e suas famílias. Para os alunos do Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr., o surfista deixa o recado: “Parabéns! Aproveitem cada minuto nesse lugar especial. Deus abençoe vocês, um forte abraço”.

Italo Ferreira (Baía Formosa-RN, 6 de maio de 1994) é um surfista profissional brasileiro que está no World Tour desde 2015. Em 2019, sagrou-se campeão do maior circuito do surf mundial. Venceu a grande final da última etapa, em Pipeline, no Hawaii, contra o bicampeão Gabriel Medina, tornando-se o terceiro brasileiro a conquistar o título. Também é o primeiro surfista a obter, numa mesma temporada, os títulos da World Surf League e International Surfing Association na categoria masculina. Em 2021, Italo se tornou o primeiro medalhista de ouro da histórica do surf nos Jogos Olímpicos, vencendo a competição disputada nas ondas de Shidashita, em Chiba, Japão, com uma brilhante campanha desde a estreia.

This Tuesday (02), the Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. received the visit of the Tokyo Olympic Champion in 2021, the Brazilian surfer, Ítalo Ferreira. The first surfer in history to win a medal of the modality in the games, he got to know the educational and sports work carried out by the social project in Praia Grande and was received with affection and animation by the students.

During the morning, Ítalo strolled through the sports courts and the field, where he took the opportunity to play volleyball and soccer with the children. In the educational building, the highlight was the art class, where the students prepared a surprise and presented him with drawings of the athlete made in the classroom.

After touring the 8,400m² of built area of ​​the INJR, Ítalo Ferreira said he was impressed with the project. “I believe that [the Instituto] is contributing a lot to the people who are here and who are part of this project, to all the children who are arriving, to all the adults who have already left. This is the result of the project, it is the result of a lot of dedication, a lot of effort. All the professionals who are here donate 100% to this project and, especially, Neymar. I wanted to congratulate him on the project, for doing this in return for the community he came from, where he grew up. I wish you all the best of luck, and that you enjoy every moment in this special place”, says the surfer.

For the Olympic medalist, encouraging sport is an important part of the role played by the Instituto in the lives of young people. “Sport has transformed my life. God gave me this talent and we know that not everyone wants to be a sportsman, but wants to have a chance in life. These projects give this opportunity, they give this light to children, to young people, they show a better path to follow”.

When familiarizing himself with the work of the INJR, Ítalo also seeks inspiration for the social project he is developing and which will bear his name. The Instituto Italo Ferreira is being developed in Baía Formosa, Rio Grande do Norte, the athlete’s hometown. A non-profit organization whose pillars are sport, training and sustainability.

For the athlete, the Instituto is a dream come true. “My Institute will open this year in Baía Formosa, the place where I was born and where I have great affection. It was my dream to contribute and also give opportunity to the people who live in this place and I believe it will be amazing. I hope that I can give great opportunities and that I can be part of the lives of the children and the people who will participate in this project”, he says. In August, the Ítalo Ferreira Instituto will begin registration for the beginning of the activities in sequence.

Ítalo relates the opportunity to be able to build a project like his Institute with his victory of the first Olympic surfing gold medal in history. “After my victory at the Olympics everything changed. I like to talk a lot about my institute and bring this achievement into my project, because it really helps. And it is through this victory that I got good partners, people who are really there to add and who can help with this project and change the lives of the people who will participate. It will be incredible. I say that I’ll do everything while I’m alive to give opportunities and help others”, says the athlete.

Neymar Jr. and Ítalo Ferreira are examples of the important role that athletes can play in society through sport and education, transforming the lives of children, adolescents and their families. For the students of Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr., the surfer leaves a message: “Congratulations! Enjoy every minute in this special place. God bless you, a big hug”.

Italo Ferreira (Baía Formosa-RN, May 6, 1994) is a Brazilian professional surfer who has been on the World Tour since 2015. In 2019, he became champion of the biggest surfing circuit in the world.
