Oral health was the focus of an awareness lecture held at Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. for young participants in the INJR Crew Members program and adolescents from the Evening Project. The activity aimed to expand access to information about prevention, hygiene, and the care required to maintain oral health.
The lecture was conducted by Dr. Sidney Neves, a Master’s degree holder and specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Traumatology and Coordinator of the Dental Center at Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. During the meeting, participants received guidance on daily care and had the opportunity to ask questions about different aspects of oral health.
The activity also highlighted the importance of establishing hygiene habits during adolescence. Maintaining daily care, combined with regular dental follow-up and preventive measures, contributes to identifying potential issues and reducing problems that may affect oral health over time.
For the adolescents participating in the Evening Project, the meeting provided an opportunity to learn more about the relationship between prevention, daily care, well-being, and quality of life. The discussion expanded their knowledge of practices that can be incorporated into their routines and maintained throughout different stages of life.
For the young participants in the INJR Crew Members program, the content was also connected to the specific circumstances of the next stage of their professional journey. As they are expected to spend several months on board, following a professional routine away from home, maintaining hygiene and preventive dental care is part of their preparation for the particular conditions of life at sea.
Dr. Sidney Neves has been involved with the project since its beginning and, throughout this period, has contributed to initiatives focused on oral health guidance and prevention for the students of Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr. The lecture was part of the institution’s educational and awareness activities, emphasizing the role of knowledge and preventive care in the young participants’ routines.
